Forbes Museum of Pigments

Brand Identity

The Forbes Museum of Pigments is a renowned archive of over 2,700 pigments, tracing the evolution of color in art, science, and culture. Originally established by Edward Forbes in the early 20th century, this collection offers a unique opportunity for artists, designers, and scientists to explore the history and chemistry of pigments.

Research of Moma's brand identity

Logo Sketches

This project aims to establish a cohesive brand identity for the pigment collection, including the logo, signage, and various design applications. Inspired by the unique texture of the color wheel, I incorporated this element into the logo design, shaping the letter "O" into a circular form to create a distinct visual focus. This collection welcomes all audiences who are fascinated by color and the rich stories behind it.

To further bring the collection to life, I created a promotional video inspired by the fluid movement of pigments dispersing in water. This visually immersive approach captures the interaction of color, light, and texture, highlighting the organic beauty of pigments in motion. The video, along with accompanying posters and signage, follows a structured visual system, ensuring brand consistency while evoking a sense of discovery.

Recognizing the brief engagement time at public spaces, I designed the video to be concise yet impactful—just 17 seconds—allowing passersby to instantly connect with the museum’s narrative. Through a refined balance of branding, motion design, and visual storytelling, this project transforms the Forbes Museum of Pigments into more than a historical archive—it becomes an interactive experience that celebrates the power of color in art and science.
